Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (SCHN) and Oneview Healthcare honored as recipients of the 2018 Microsoft Health Innovation Award

Las Vegas, NV — March 7, 2018 Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and Oneview Healthcare, PLC (ASX:ONE) today announced they have been named recipients of Microsoft Corp.’s 2018 Health Innovation Award for “Engage Your Patients.”

The awards, which were announced at the 2018 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada, recognise health organisations and their technology solution partners for using Microsoft’s Azure technology in innovative ways that help engage patients, empower care teams, optimise clinical and operational effectiveness, and transform health. The 2018 winners are impacting the industry by creating breakthrough solutions that empower health and life sciences organisations, while meeting global, local and industry-specific compliance and security standards.

The My Health Memory smartphone app benefits patients and their families by providing tools to communicate with healthcare teams, access education, confirm/schedule appointments, and share health information. Cheryl McCullagh, Director of Clinical Integration for Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, is excited about the win.

“Oneview Connect has opened new horizons in sharing between our patients and our clinicians or clinical teams,” says Cheryl McCullagh, SCHN’s director of clinical integration. “We’re not just giving our patients data, we’re giving them contextualised data they can act on and someone they can talk to about it.”

It improves the patient experience, empowers patient engagement, and drives patient loyalty, she adds. “When the look and feel of a mobile app is the same experience as what you use in the hospital, it brings comfort to the family, which is really important. It’s enables an end-to-end experience within and between care events.”

James Fitter, CEO of Oneview Healthcare added, “This award is a great testament to our collaborative partnership with SCHN and a huge credit to our engineering, product and project management teams who have worked so hard to bring this product to life in such a short period of time.”

“We are all incredibly excited about the difference this application can make globally to patients, their loved ones and their carers. This sort of consumer centric innovation is embarrassingly overdue in the healthcare industry.”

“The health industry is undergoing a Digital Transformation in which intelligent health technologies are helping organisations, communities and individuals improve care by helping them better understand and share information,” said Chris Sakalosky, vice president, U.S. Health & Life Sciences, Microsoft. “This year’s Microsoft Health Innovation Award recipients are advancing the goals of improved patient engagement and care coordination through their pioneering use of Microsoft devices, platforms and cloud and AI services.”

Nominations were submitted by health providers, payers, pharmaceutical and life science organisations, and public and private health institutions across the world for applying Microsoft technology to create transformative and highly-effective innovations. An esteemed panel of industry experts selected this year’s winners based on how their innovation represents a forward-thinking development or implementation of a solution that is delivering groundbreaking results and producing better health outcomes for more people. Recipients will be highlighted on the Microsoft in Health blog at www.Microsoft.com/Health
